Ego - The False Center

From the page: "But you, if the wife escapes, divorces you, goes to somebody else, you are completely shattered - because she had been paying attention to you, caring, loving, moving around you, helping you to feel that you were somebody. Your whole empire is lost, you are simply shattered. You start thinking about suicide. Why? Why, if a wife leaves you, should you commit suicide? Why, if a husband leaves you, should you commit suicide? Because you don't have any center of your own. The wife was giving you the center; the husband was giving you the center.

This is how people exist. This is how people become dependent on others. It is a deep slavery. Ego HAS to be a slave. It depends on others. And only a person who has no ego is for the first time a master; he is no longer a slave. Try to understand this.

And start looking for the ego - not in others, that is not your business, but in yourself. Whenever you feel miserable, immediately close you eyes and try to find out from where the misery is coming and you will always find it is the false center which has clashed with someone.

You expected something, and it didn't happen.

You expected something, and just the contrary happened - your ego is shaken, you are in misery. Just look, whenever you are miserable, try to find out why.

Causes are not outside you. The basic cause is within you - but you always look outside, you always ask:

Who is making me miserable?
Who is the cause of my anger?
Who is the cause of my anguish?
And if you look outside you will miss.
Just close the eyes and always look within.
The source of all misery, anger, anguish, is hidden in you, your ego.

And if you find the source, it will be easy to move beyond it. If you can see that it is your own ego that gives you trouble, you will prefer to drop it - because nobody can carry the source of misery if he understands it.

And remember, there is no need to drop the ego.

You cannot drop it.

If you try to drop it, you will attain to a certain subtle ego again which says, "I have become humble."

Don't try to be humble. That's again ego in hiding - but it's not dead.

Don't try to be humble.

Nobody can try humility, and nobody can create humility through any effort of his own - no. When the ego is no more, a humbleness comes to you. It is not a creation. It is a shadow of the real center.

And a really humble man is neither humble nor egoistic.

He is simply simple.

He's not even aware that he is humble.

If you are aware that you are humble, the ego is there.

Look at humble persons.... There are millions who think that they are very humble. They bow down very low, but watch them - they are the subtlest egoists. Now humility is their source of food. They say, "I am humble," and then they look at you and they wait for you to appreciate them.

"You are really humble," they would like you to say. "In fact, you are the most humble man in the world; nobody is as humble as you are." Then see the smile that comes on their faces."

FIVE REASONS WHY UFOs ARE NOT EXTRATERRESTRIAL MACHINES

J. Vallee, a computer scientist and prolific writer on the subject, demurs, and he gives five reasons why:

"(1) Unexplained close encounters are far more numerous than required for any physical survey of the earth;

(2) The humanoid body structure of the alleged 'aliens' is not likely to have originated on another planet and is not biologically adapted to space travel;

(3) The reported behavior in thousands of abduction reports contradicts the hypothesis of genetic or scientific experimentation on humans by an advanced race;

(4) The extension of the phenomenon throughout recorded history demonstrates that UFOs are not a contemporary phenomenon; and

(5) The apparent ability of UFOs to manipulate space and time suggests radically different and richer alternatives."

Don't believe the following. Reality will cheerfully & automatically prove you right:

* Life is a valley of sorrows.
* The body is inferior. As a vehicle of the soul it is automatically degraded, tinged.
* I am helpless before circumstances I cannot control (see Solipsism). But sometimes you are
* I am helpless because my personality ard character were formed in infancy, and I am at the mercy of my past.
* I am helpless becaues I am at the mercy of events from past lives in other incarnations, over which I now have no control. I must be punished, or I am punishing myself for unkindnesses done to others in past lives. I must accept the negative aspects of my life because of my Bad Karma.
* People are basically bad, and out to get me. Some of them are
* I have the truth and nobody else has. Or, my group has the truth and no other group has.
* I will grow frailer, sicker, and lose my powers as I grow old. Yes, in general, you will.
* My existence depends on my experience in flesh. When my body dies my consciousness dies with it.
* I'm sickly and always have been. Maybe so.
* There is something wrong with money. People who have it are greedy, less spiritual than those who are poor. They are unhappier, and snobs. This is often the case
* I am not creative. I have no imagination. True of some people
* I can never do what I want to. If you wan't things unavailable to you
* People dislike me. Some doubtless do.
* I am fat. Maybe you are. I am.
* I always have bad luck.

he only hope we have is for good people to discipline their innate tendency to do bad things.

The spontaneous self, the inner self left alone, is a good thing. And we will not go into a definition of the word good! Left alone, the inner self keeps your body functioning and your eyesight keen; it keeps your balance perfect; it keeps you alive. It gives you a sense of joy and vitality and it fills you with a joy of All-That-Is, which is my term for the word God.

Left alone, then, you are a perfect creature - and you feel a oneness with nature. And when you walk down the street, you feel a unity between your fingertips and the leaftops and between you feet and the pavement beneath them. It is only when you meddle with the spontaneous self that difficulties arise - and these difficulties you may, if you prefer, call evil.

Evil arises, and we will not go into a definition of the word evil, when - and precisely when - you do not realize that the inner self is the source of joy, vitality and creativity! At that point, indeed, when doubts enter in, then you mistrust yourself and the inner self that forms your physical image. Then when you do not accept the spontaneous self, you decide you will accept certain feelings and deny others. And those that you deny, that you do not regard as acceptable, these grow up within you until they achieve a strong charge; and those repressed charges, individually and en masse , cause violence! ''

And if you want to equate the word violence with evil, then that is the origin of it; and it is mistrust of the spontaneous self - the inner self - that is within you all.

(The ParableOfTheIdiotFlowers was once told here, before a random gardener decided to transplant it to another pot.)

I guess I agree that repressing your feelings leads to an explosive anger, but it seems to me that, recognizing this, the individual should strive to look for the goodness in himself and cultivate it a little bit - given the world situation and all...

From the page: "Lucifer never existed as an angel, or as a devil. It was the name given by your ancestors to Venus, the Morning Star. It comes from Latin: lucis (light) and ferre (to bring), and meant the bringer of dawn.

The name Lucifer was first used about 1500 years ago in the Vulgate Bible, one of the earliest versions of Chinese whispers that humanitys been playing with, and was actually a personal insult by the translator at that time against a bishop he knew called Lucifer. The name stuck, and has been used ever since.

The name Satan actually comes from Iran, when it was known as Persia. A prophet named Zoroaster talked about the struggle between good and evil, naming Satan as the Prince of Darkness. Over the years, Satan has played various parts in the Hebrew Bible, the Apocrypha, and the New Testament. He never appeared in the Old Testament. The Hebrews had Satan as an angel that God used to test mankind, while the other two Bibles had him as an evil demon who was the enemy of God and mankind.

Satan and Hell dont exist. The greatest trick humanity ever pulled was to convince themselves he does! It helps avoid responsibility though, which is nice and convenient.

We create our reality moment to moment. Noted physicists and mathematicians, as well as psychiatrists and neurophysiologists, are now supporting this opinion. Quantum mechanics supports the theory that personal creativity plays an essential role in our perception of the what we call reality.

From the page: "What does this mean to you?

If you are used to being angry, your cells will send signals calling to be fed by peptides made up of amino acids. The difference is, the anger receptor sites are going to call on to be fed by the anger peptide that is the only peptide that can fit perfectly into the anger receptor site on the cell. This means, your brain will be asked to find a reason to be angry.

How does this work?

1. You think of something in your past that makes you angry. For no reason at all, you find yourself thinking about someone that betrayed you.
2. You anticipate something negative this is most likely to repeat itself that makes you angry.
3. You in fact interpret and make assumptions on existing events and the assumptions of people in such a way that makes you feel angry.
4. You attract situations with your focus that causes you to be angry. If you understand the power of perception and its effect on your reality, then you can imagine what role the body has in asking for experiences to feed it emotions it is accustomed to.

How do you break free?

Well knowing about it reduces the anxiety when you literally experience the cold turkey period that comes from detoxing from any chemical addiction and emotions are biochemical drugs that are much more powerful than any pharmeceutical drug. That restless, feverish and uncertain period that intensifies to the point of inner panic well known in those coming off an addiction to hard drugs is just as relevant when we abstain from feeding a particular emotion. With knowledge, you can turn this bad pain into good pain and new peptides and new receptor sites aligned with joyful experiences can instantanously replace the old addiction if you can ride the cold turkey period."
